What sort of items may be used as security?
It is worth checking the suitability of items as security for a loan beforehand. Just contact our offices, and we will gladly help with any questions.
Jewellery
We accept mainly gold jewellery and silver design-jewellery, such as Lapponia or Kalevala. As for precious stones, we pay particular attention to diamonds.
Watches
The insurance value of a wrist watch is affected primarily by the manufacturer, the model, its age and the materials it has been made from. As for pocket and pendant watches, we accept those in silver or gold cases.
Securities
Shares in housing companies, right-of-residence agreements and book-entry securities in banks are all acceptable as security for a loan.
Silver
We mainly accept silverware, such as cutlery, coffee services and vases as security.
Collectables and art
For glassware, we generally accept Finnish, signed items of art glass that are completely undamaged as security. The majority of paintings and sculptures accepted as a pledge are works of renowned Finnish artists.
Commemorative currency
All gold currency and Finnish commemorative money is acceptable as a pledge. Foreign commemorative currency (such as US silver dollars and commemorative currency of other European countries) shall be considered on a case-by-case basis to determine its suitability as a pledge.
Medals
All gold medals may be used as a pledge, as may the great majority of medal series issued by Nordic Moneta Ltd.
Home electronics
We accept new home electronics as a pledge: mobile phones, digital and video cameras, games consoles and laptops. Remember to take along your purchase receipt.
Musical instruments
Guitars, violins, string instruments, wind instruments, keyboard instruments, percussion instruments, amplifiers, and special effect and studio equipment may all be pledged for a loan.
